In a ceremony held at the Municipality of Melipeuco, we also announced the results of the 2022 National Environmental Certification Program, which involves four establishments in the sector.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>In a ceremony held outside the Melipeuco City Hall, 50 students from the schools Cumcumllaque, Caren, Volc\u00e1n Llaima and Liceo Los Andes received educational scholarships for elementary, middle and high school, assigned by our Scholarship Program.<\/p>\n

The activity was attended by the mayor of the commune of Melipeuco, Alejandro Cuminao, the director of the Municipal Education Administration Department, Johnny Ceballos, the principals, parents and students of the different educational establishments, and representatives of our company.<\/p>\n

During the event, Mayor Cuminao emphasized the importance of these initiatives for the future of the young people of the area and that as the mayor's office they hope to continue working to promote and support these types of benefits. \"These scholarships come to collaborate and contribute so that the students continue with their studies and move forward with their dreams and careers, which is what we are ultimately interested in\".<\/p>\n

Since 2014, our Scholarship Program has benefited more than 300 students from Melipeuco, through a benefit whose main objective is to promote education in the area. The initiative seeks to help students in elementary, middle and higher education, so they can buy materials, technological implements, books and other items, and also has a free scholarship for high school students, which consists of a bonus which will allow them to cover the payment of fees, tuition and daily expenses in the cities where they study.<\/p>\n

Diego Hollweck, General Manager, highlighted the time they have been carrying out this initiative with the community, which they hope to continue developing in the future. \"This scholarship program is a sample of the work we have done with the communities since we arrived in the area, especially with those that are close to our operation and other sectors of the commune. We believe that whatever comes towards improving the levels of education and preparation of our neighbors, speaks of a future being built, and it is in that future that we want to participate,\" he stressed.<\/p>\n

SNCAE environmental certification program<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

In addition to awarding the scholarships, during the activity the results of the initiatives that were developed in 2022 were presented, within the framework of the Environmental Certification program that we carry out in conjunction with the National Student Environmental Certification Service, also known as SNCAE, and the Education Department of the Municipality of Melipeuco and schools in the commune.<\/p>\n

The award seeks to implement a comprehensive strategy to address environmental education for sustainability in the country's educational establishments, from kindergarten to high school.<\/p>\n

In the case of Melipeuco, the schools Volc\u00e1n Llaima, Cumcumllaque, Caren and Liceo Los Andes are the establishments that were certified during 2022, who also presented a photographic exhibition to show the activities in which they participated this year.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, within the news reported regarding the initiative, we announced the integration of three establishments to the 2023 environmental certification process, along with the incorporation of the Papageno Foundation project to rural schools in the commune. This organization reaches more than 1500 children with free musical education and its implementation that we will develop together with a strategic alliance with the Municipality of Melipeuco.<\/p>\n

Regarding the program, Jos\u00e9 Salgado, Manager of Safety, Sustainability and Environment, valued the collaborative work that has been implemented and invited the community to continue. \"For our part, we will continue to support this beautiful project, which is important not only for the commune of Melipeuco, but also for all the schools in the country that are joining this certification system,\" he added.<\/p>\n

Along the same lines, the principal of the Volc\u00e1n Llaima School, Monserrat Gonz\u00e1lez, highlighted the work that was done during the year and made a call to take care this type of projects. Likewise, the teacher emphasized that \"when there is this collaborative work of support, obviously great things are achieved. The important thing now is to project to the community to make this work much more effective and to let them know all the work that is done within our establishments\".<\/p>\n

En la jornada tambi\u00e9n estuvieron presentes distintos grupos art\u00edsticos y conjuntos musicales que trabajan junto a nuestra empresa y la Municipalidad en distintos proyectos. Estos fueron la \u00abFundaci\u00f3n Cultural Papageno\u201d, el \u201cClub de Artes Marciales Okinawa\u201d quienes pasaron de tener cinco alumnos a contar con cuarenta integrantes en menos de un a\u00f1o, y el Ballet Folcl\u00f3rico Comunal, que deleit\u00f3 a los asistentes con distintos bailes de danza nacional.<\/p>\n

La empresa de generaci\u00f3n de energ\u00eda renovable, Latin America Power (LAP) present\u00f3 su Reporte de Sostenibilidad 2021 que contempla las acciones realizadas en sus m\u00e1s de diez proyectos en operaci\u00f3n, junto con su participaci\u00f3n con 42 comunidades tanto en Chile como en Per\u00fa.<\/p>

De esta forma, la compa\u00f1\u00eda inform\u00f3 sobre sus aportes en distintas materias ligadas con el desarrollo econ\u00f3mico y social de las comunidades donde participa, en l\u00ednea con su compromiso por acelerar las transformaciones en el sector para un futuro sostenible.<\/p>

Este nuevo reporte es resultado de tres meses de elaboraci\u00f3n y un amplio n\u00famero de entrevistas a distintos colaboradores, proveedores y clientes en Chile y Per\u00fa, demostrando que la compa\u00f1\u00eda contribuy\u00f3 con nueve de los diecisiete Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS) de la Organizaci\u00f3n de las Naciones Unidas, en base a un trabajo centrado en los fondos de inversi\u00f3n con foco en las comunidades, la educaci\u00f3n para el desarrollo sostenible, una gesti\u00f3n al desarrollo local y el cambio clim\u00e1tico con foco en educaci\u00f3n ambiental<\/p>

Al respecto, el gerente general de Latin America Power, Diego Hollweck destac\u00f3 que \u201ceste reporte de sostenibilidad es el reflejo del trabajo que estamos realizando, junto con la dedicaci\u00f3n que todos quienes formamos parte de LAP hemos puesto en generar un impacto positivo en la comunidad y hacer de nuestro quehacer un beneficio para el medioambiente y el mundo en general. Estamos seguros y convencidos de nuestra labor, con una visi\u00f3n de negocio sostenible que tiene como idea central lograr un equilibrio entre el desarrollo empresarial, el respeto al medioambiente y la contribuci\u00f3n a las comunidades donde operamos\u201d.<\/p>

Al mismo tiempo, durante el 2021 la empresa decidi\u00f3 asumir un nuevo desaf\u00edo, a trav\u00e9s de la medici\u00f3n de la huella de carbono corporativa, que consiste en la evaluaci\u00f3n de las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero (GEI) que emiti\u00f3 la empresa a trav\u00e9s de Carbononeutral quienes utilizaron un software especializado en la materia. \u201cLa medici\u00f3n es una herramienta esencial de nuestro compromiso ambiental, por ello decidimos ir m\u00e1s all\u00e1 con este tremendo desaf\u00edo, agreg\u00f3 el gerente de Sostenibilidad de Latin America Power, Jos\u00e9 Salgado.<\/p>

\u00a0Actualmente Latin America Power aporta con m\u00e1s de 340 MW de energ\u00eda limpia a las matrices de Chile y Per\u00fa, mediante distintas fuentes de energ\u00eda, como hidroel\u00e9ctrica, e\u00f3lica y solar. Por otro lado, sus operaciones en Chile se encuentran en las regiones de Atacama, Coquimbo y La Araucan\u00eda, mientras que en Per\u00fa las operaciones est\u00e1n ubicadas en los departamentos de Jun\u00edn y Ancash.<\/p>
