For the second time, as Latin America Power (LAP), we underwent a greenhouse gas emission assessment, which determined that the company reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 50.2% at the corporate level during 2022, considering our projects throughout Chile, where the reduction was 51% and Peru, with a decrease of 41%.<\/p>\n

In the case of our country, the study that evaluated the operations of the projects San Juan, Totoral, Carilafqu\u00e9n Malalcahuello (CMA) and the company's headquarters, showed that the total of the emissions dropped from 1,503 tons of CO2 in 2021 to 729 tons of CO2 in 2022, and the main aspect responsible for the reduction in emissions was electricity consumption, a category that decreased by 77%.<\/p>\n

In this regard, our general manager, Esteban Moraga, highlighted the importance of this type of diagnosis for all companies, regardless of the sector or industry in which they operate. \u201cAt Latin America Power we are convinced that this type of instances are crucial to account for the commitment we have with the environment and the environment that surrounds us. Although we receive these results as a good sign of the work we are doing, they also motivate us to continue improving year after year, to constantly reduce our impact on the environment,\" he added.<\/p>\n

The study, carried out by the company Carboneutral, is part of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, a balance considered the best standard for reporting greenhouse gas emissions at a corporate or organizational level, contemplating the measurement of the compounds defined in the Protocol such as carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), nitrogen trifluoride (NF3), sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) and perfluorocarbons (PFCs). ).<\/p>\n

Detail of the results by category<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to the report, 46.7% of CO2 emissions came from Parque E\u00f3lico Totoral, located in the Coquimbo region, while the project with the greatest decrease was Parque E\u00f3lico San Juan (Atacama Region), with a variation of 89%. compared to 2021, which represents a decrease of 772.6 tons of CO2.<\/p>\n

Likewise, the company's emissions at the national level were generated mainly in the different facilities of its projects (47.5%), followed by emissions from business trips (22.0%), organization vehicles (21.7 %), home-work displacement (7.7%), home workers (1.0%) and delivery by third parties (01%).<\/p>\n

Another point to highlight in the report was the decrease in the company's relative emissions, which decreased by 50% compared to the electricity produced in 2022, emitting 1.14 kg CO2 per hour in 2022.<\/p>\n

La actividad se enmarc\u00f3 en el programa de certificaci\u00f3n del Sistema Nacional de Certificaci\u00f3n Ambiental de Establecimientos Educacionales impulsado por la empresa en la comuna de Melipeuco.<\/em><\/h5>

El mi\u00e9rcoles 21 de marzo, en las dependencias del balneario de Melipeuco, alumnos de ocho establecimientos educacionales y adultos mayores de la comuna, fueron parte de una actividad impulsada por Latin America Power y la Unidad de Turismo de la Municipalidad de Melipeuco, que tuvo como objetivo conmemorar el D\u00eda Mundial del Agua, bajo el lema \u201cNadie se Queda Atr\u00e1s\u201d.<\/p>

Durante la instancia que se enmarc\u00f3 bajo el programa de Certificaci\u00f3n Ambiental impulsado por la empresa en la zona, se realizaron distintas din\u00e1micas, lideradas por los monitores SNCAE LAP y profesionales de la Oficina de Medio Ambiente Municipal, donde los alumnos reflexionaron sobre la importancia y cuidado de este vital recurso.<\/p>

Para ello, se realizaron diversos talleres y grupos de trabajo en el que los presentes conversaron sobre las principales problem\u00e1ticas que existen entorno al agua en el sector y las soluciones que le entregan al problema desde sus propias realidades.<\/p>

En cuanto al foco principal de la iniciativa, el encargado de Medio Ambiente Fabi\u00e1n O\u00f1ate destac\u00f3 que, \u201cla idea principal fue el dialogo entre generaciones, juntar estudiantes de distintos niveles y adultos mayores, para que de esa manera conocieron diferentes experiencias y asimismo aprendieran sobre la importancia de los recursos naturales para la zona y el mundo en general\u201d.<\/p>

Por su parte Manuel Gonz\u00e1lez, superisor HSSE LAP, indic\u00f3 que \u201c tener la oportunidad de participar en este tipo de actividades que se gestionan para los colegios que estamos acompa\u00f1ando en su proceso de certificaci\u00f3n, interactuando con los ni\u00f1os, profesores, y comunidad escolar en general nos llena de satisfacci\u00f3n y nos motiva a seguir en esta l\u00ednea de trabajo conjunto para la educaci\u00f3n Ambiental de Melipeuco\u201d.<\/p>
