The renewable energy generating company summarized its performance in the environmental, social and governance dimensions, highlighting the development of public-private partnerships and environmental education through the "Me Sumo" project.

The renewable energy generation company, Latin America Power (LAP) presented its 2023 Sustainability Report, in which it deepened its contributions in environmental matters and economic and social development, reinforcing its commitment to corporate responsibility and environmental preservation, along with the consolidation of its management system.

In this way, in its fourth report, the company highlighted the strong development in public-private partnerships, along with the implementation of programs in the field of environmental education, well-being in the workplace and its participation in energy industry issues.

In this regard, the general manager of LAP, Esteban Moraga, stressed that "we seek to demonstrate that business success and sustainability are intrinsically intertwined concepts. From implementing responsible environmental practices to promoting a culture of safety and well-being in the workplace, we are committed to operating ethically and sustainably in every aspect of our activities, while strengthening all activities that contribute to our projects."

One of the most highlighted focuses of the company was the official signing of the agreement they have had with the Municipality of Melipeuco since 2022 through the "Me Sumo" project, a management model based on public-private partnership, whose objective is the optimization of public and private resources in order to promote environmental management in the territory.

Within this framework, programs were carried out such as a communal composting initiative, the third Meeting of Schools Located in Volcanic Risk Zones and a series of actions to promote environmental care with the children of the commune.

In addition, he highlighted the Environmental Certification Program, carried out in conjunction with the National Student Environmental Certification Service (SNCAE) and the Department of Education of the Municipality of Melipeuco, through which the environmental certification of nine educational establishments in the commune was achieved, integrating three of them during the 2023 process.

Another point highlighted in the report was the commitment to the industry, highlighting the support for the programs and initiatives promoted by the World Energy Council Chile, where the commercial manager, Óscar Morales, was part of the organization's board, while the People Manager, Fabiola Cuello, was one of the graduates of the fifth generation of the Women in Energy 2023 program.

Finally, the company detailed its Environmental Commitments Plan for each plant and park in operation, which considers wildlife monitoring, annual bird report, reforestation programs, effluent quality and monitoring of commitments. On this, the Superintendence of the Environment, in conjunction with the DGA and Conaf, verified compliance with the progress made in the environmental and social commitments established by LAP at the Carilafquén – Malalcahuello Hydroelectric Power Plant (CMA).
