Renewable Energies

Non-Conventional Renewable Energy (NCRE) projects use renewable resources to generate electricity and have minimal social and environmental impacts. Examples of NCRE projects are organic waste plants, small run-of-river hydroelectric plants, wind power plants, solar plants, biomass co-generation plants, etc.

BIOMASS

Electricity generated from organic and biodegradable matter. It can be directly used as fuel or converted into other liquid, solid or gaseous biofuels.

HYDRO-ELECTRIC

The kinetic energy of flowing water is converted into electricity using a turbine and an electrical generator. They can be developed on a small scale from natural water causes or irrigation projects up to a maximum of 20,000 kW. Their environmental impact is very low, so they are classified as NCRE.

WIND

Electricity generated from the force of the wind. Wind turbines transform the kinetic energy of the wind into electricity.

SOLAR

Electricity generated from solar radiation. They transform direct solar radiation into heat using thermal collectors, or into electricity using photo-voltaic cells.

TIDAL

Electricity generated from tides, waves, marine currents and thermal gradients within the oceans.

GEOTHERMAL

Electricity generated from the earth's natural heat.
