Latin America Power presented its second Sustainability Report

According to the document, in 2021 the renewable energy company based in Chile and Peru has developed concrete actions in nine Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations, contributing to sustainability issues and the socioeconomic development of communities where it operates.

The renewable energy generation company, Latin America Power (LAP) presented its 2021 Sustainability Report that includes the actions carried out in its more than ten projects underway, along with its operation in 42 communities in both Chile and Peru.

In the report, the company presented its contributions in different matters related to the socioeconomic development of the communities where it operates, in line with its commitment to accelerate the transformations in the sector for a sustainable future. This new report is the result of three months of preparation and several interviews with collaborators, suppliers and clients in Chile and Peru, demonstrating the company’s commitment to nine of the seventeen SDGs of the United Nations. The work centers on investment funds with a focus on communities, education for sustainable development, management of local development and climate change, with a focus on environmental education

In this regard, the general manager of Latin America Power, Diego Hollweck, highlighted that “this sustainability report is a reflection of the work we are doing, together with the dedication that all of us who are part of LAP have put into generating a positive impact in the community and making our work a benefit for the environment and the world in general. We are sure and convinced of our work, with a sustainable business vision whose central idea is to achieve a balance between business development, respect for the environment and contribution to the communities where we operate”.

Concurrently, in 2021 the company announced a new challenge through the measurement of the corporate carbon footprint, which consists of the evaluation of the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions emitted by the company through Carbonneutral, who used specialized software on the matter. "Measurement is an essential tool of our environmental commitment, which is why we decided to go further with this tremendous challenge," added Latin America Power's Sustainability Manager, José Salgado.

 Latin America Power currently contributes more than 340 MW of clean energy to the grids of Chile and Peru through various energy sources, including hydroelectric, wind and solar. Its operations in Chile are located in the regions of Atacama, Coquimbo and La Araucanía, while in Peru the operations are located in the departments of Junín and Ancash.
