SMA verifies compliance with environmental and social commitments at the Carilafquén - Malalcahuello Power Plant

The instance is part of the process that the Superintendence of the Environment carries out annually to companies from different sectors in the region.

The Superintendence of the Environment, together with the General Directorate of Water (DGA) and the National Forestry Corporation (CONAF), visited the Carilafquén - Malalcahuello Hydroelectric Power Plant (CMA), as part of the process that the authority carries out annually to verify compliance with the commitments defined in the Environmental Qualification Resolution (RCA) of companies from different sectors.

During the instance, the authority verified the fulfillment of the progress in the environmental and social commitments established by LAP in its RCA 132 corresponding to the year 2014, as well as the erosion control on slopes located in the adduction belts of the plant, along with the fulfillment of the execution of the Compliance Plan (PDC) of each of the obligations that were acquired with the authority.

In this regard, LAP's Sustainability Manager, José Salgado, stressed that "for us it is very important that the work we do is recognized for the quality and rigor we apply in all the processes and projects we carry out, looking after the environment and benefiting the communities that surround us. That is why we value this visit, as it helps us to continue meeting that objective in collaboration with the sector authority and all of us who are part of the company."

It should be recalled that on December 14, 2022, the Carilafquén - Malalcahuello Hydroelectric Power Plant was reinaugurated, after the General Directorate of Water (DGA) approved the final reception of the hydraulic works of the Power Plant in September of the same year.
